How to Play Blackjack Online

Without a doubt, one of the most popular casino card games on the planet and one that is appreciated by fans of the genre is Blackjack. You’ve probably heard of it at least once in your life, but in case you don’t know the rules yet, we’ll take a look at them in this article with a few tips.

Blackjack is a very simple game: the objective is to obtain a hand whose total points are as close as possible to 21 compared to the dealer’s hand, but without exceeding that score. This is done by challenging the dealer.

How to Play Blackjack Online

Blackjack is played with a deck of 52 cards, without jokers. Although the classic version is the most popular globally, there are also other variations of this game. Some of these are almost identical to the original, while others differ considerably. But let’s see how classic blackjack develops.

Calling cards and standing in blackjack

The most basic decision you will have to make at the start of the game is whether to hit or stand. This is an important decision for any online blackjack player. The Banker, on the other hand, is obliged to hit if the hand is worth 16 or less. If the value of the cards in your hand is less than 17, your chances of winning are lower unless the Banker busts.

If the value of your hand is less than 17 and the Banker shows an Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9 or 8 it is a good idea to ask for a card, as the chances of him busting are low.

Doubling down in Blackjack

The quickest way to increase the stakes during a Blackjack game is to double down at every favourable opportunity. This can lead to doubling your bet, and therefore your winnings, or it can end up costing you twice as much if you do it at the wrong time. Keep in mind that there is always a percentage of luck involved as the cards are dealt randomly.

In the event that you get a good hand, with cards with a total value of 11 for example, it is advisable to double down as the winning percentages are in your favour.

Split in Online Blackjack

As with doubling, the action of splitting can be very beneficial if you do it with the right cards, or it can end up costing you dearly by splitting a winning hand into two losing hands.

Remember never to split 10s and 5s, but always split Aces and 8s, regardless of what the dealer is showing. The reason for this is that a pair of 8s equals 16 and you can only win if the dealer busts. By splitting into a pair of 8s, your chances of getting two hands worth more than 16 are much higher.

Online Blackjack Strategy and Winning Tricks

As well as discussing this in our article on how to win at Blackjack, we’ve created an infographic with a number of different tactics you can use depending on the cards held by the Banker. Obviously, these tactics do not guarantee you a guaranteed win, but they will help you to better understand the logic of the game in order to make the best decisions during a game.

There are several variations of this game in the online casino, and it’s not easy to excel in all of them. Rather than learning how to play all types of blackjack, especially if you’re new to the game, we recommend that you focus on the classic version, which is also the easiest.

Once you have chosen your game and practiced until you have mastered it, you can now use strategies to help you beat the dealer.

Online Blackjack Strategy

Implementing a profitable strategy doesn’t necessarily mean you will always win, as the cards are dealt randomly and predicting them is impossible. What we can do, however, is minimise the margin for error and therefore loss.

When you get two cards that add up to 12 or more, the risk of busting on the third call is very high. Remember that if both you and the bank bust, the bank wins.

Understanding when to call and when to stay in the game is therefore very important. One strategy that is implemented by experienced players is to pay attention to the bank’s cards and see when they receive a card with a value between 2 and 6; in this case the bank is more likely to bust than when they have a card with a value of 7 or more.

This highlights the importance of having a broader view of the game that focuses not only on your hand, but also on the bank’s cards.

If this is your first time playing online blackjack and these concepts seem complicated to you, don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal. Mastering the rules and tactics of this type of game takes a lot of practice and experience.
